In the College of Engineering / Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, a master’s thesis was discussed (A proposed model for a wireless system for recording attendance based on facial recognition) by researcher Marwa Saleh Muhammad, which aims to develop a system for recording attendance and leaving using face recognition technology. The aim of this system is to improve the attendance recording process for employees or students in a more accurate and secure manner instead of the traditional systems that depend on attendance cards or manual signature.
The advantages of the attendance registration system were characterized by face recognition and high accuracy, which allows face recognition using machine learning techniques and artificial intelligence, with high accuracy in identifying individuals. As well as the ease of use. Where the system does not require its users to download additional cards or devices, but rather recognizes faces for the registration procedures, and is distinguished by the speed of handling: facial recognition and attendance recording are done quickly and effectively, and the wireless attendance system consists of a number of cameras that are placed at the entrances and exits of buildings. By taking pictures of the people entering and leaving and sending the face image to the central control point to identify its owner using artificial intelligence technology, and information about the person if he is within the staff or students is recorded in a special file, and if the person is not among the staff, the entry point concerned is informed of that through transmit a wireless signal.
The thesis was approved by the discussion committee, which consisted of Prof. Dr. Mithaq Nima Rahima (University of Kerbala/chairman), Assistant Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abd al-Hadi Ahmed (University of Kerbala/member), Assistant Professor Dr. Asmaa Hamid Majeed (University of Al-Nahrain/member), and each of Prof. Dr. Hamid Rasool Farhan and Professor Dr. Muayad Salim Code (University of Kerbala/ member and supervisor).
